Why take our course?
How this is accomplished
The fear-tension-pain cycle is a physiological response that often occurs in response to a painful stimulus or a perceived threat (i.e. childbirth for many women).
It begins with fear, which triggers the release of adrenaline and other stress hormones, causing muscles to tense up in preparation for a fight-or-flight response.
As the muscles tense up, they can cause pain and discomfort, which further increases fear and anxiety, leading to even more tension and pain.

Kia ora, I'm Joy.
After working hard to achieve my dream birth with my first son and then raving about it, I had so many māmā asking me how I did it! I fell in love with birth before having my first son but even more so after I gave birth and I knew straight away that I wanted to 1. know more about birth and 2. help others experience a beautiful and empowering birth like I did.
I went on to take a hypnobirthing practitioners course but decided against teaching this method as It didn’t 100% align with me. But, my favourite part of this course was the hypnosis/hypnotherapy involved (aka the hypno part of hypnobirthing). So I went on to study hypnotherapy to get a better understanding of it.
I have been working on this course/studying to learn more since 2020 and I am so excited to finally be able to share it with the world in 2024! I have put all of this course work in to practice 2 more times and both of these births were absolutely perfect (including my semi surprise breech home/water birth)!! I get so much joy talking about birth and I hope you feel some sort of joy from learning about it!
But you wanna know a secret? before I got pregnant in 2018 I didn't know a whole lot about birth, and growing up (like most) I was petrified of the idea of birth! But with the right knowledge and tools I was able to accomplish a beautiful physiological birth, as nature intended and I would love to guide you towards your own empowering birth!

Frequently asked questions
Is this a hypnobirthing course?
Yes, as nature intended is a birth course that you can refer to as hypnobirthing. You will learn all sorts in this course but there is also a big element of hypnosis/hypnotherapy throughout the course.
What is hypnobirthing?
When should I purchase the course?
You can
purchase the course at any point in your pregnancy, however the most
recommended time to start the course would be between 25-33 weeks pregnant. Of
course you can start later than this but with the unpredictability of when your baby
could come it's better to not risk it, however if you are only finding out about the course later on in your pregnancy than it is doable. Feel free to send a message through if you are later on and you have any questions.
You can also start this course earlier as you have unlimited access so you may decide to start at 14 weeks and then revisit it at 32 weeks etc.
Are online courses better than an in person class/course?
Some of my favourite pros for an online class are; you can complete them in your own time, at your own pace, from where ever (yes even in bed!), you don't have to leave the comfort of your home or get dressed (two things that can be an inconvenience when you're pregnant), and you have unlimited access so you can revisit any lessons that you need or want to.
Is this course only for a natural vaginal birth?
Also I talk about caesareans and how for a small percentage they are necessary and plenty of the tools you will learn will be put to use even if this becomes your reality.
How long is the course?
The course is made up of 5 modules that realistically would be completed over 5 weeks (for example; 1 module per week on say a Sunday). However, you can totally complete this course at your own pace whether it takes you 2 weeks or 10 etc.

I'm not from New Zealand, can I still take the course?
Yes, of course. There may be a couple of examples based off of what happens in New Zealand that may not relate to you. For example all women in New Zealand may choose a midwife for free which is not the case in many countries, however, overall the course is about you, about your mind, your body, tools and techniques etc. not where you are from so it can be perfect for anybody regardless of where you live.
Do you offer a refund if I don't have a good birth?
No, we do not offer a refund based on the birth you have as there are so many factors that contribute to this, including how you interpret this course, how often you practice the tasks/techniques etc. However, we do offer a 14 day refund from the day of purchase. We think 14 days is enough time to get a good feel for the course materials to decide if you love it or not.
